Practice Lock · iPhone

Let a practice be the key to your apps.

Choose the apps that pull you in and keep them shielded until you’ve done the practice you committed to today. Tending your soul is the switch that unlocks them — a gentle commitment device, built on Apple’s Screen Time, that turns “just one more scroll” into “first, time with Jesus.”

  • Finish the day’s practice and your chosen apps unlock automatically.
  • Gentle mode leaves a “Just this once” door open; Strict holds the line.
  • You pick which apps to shield and the time they re-lock each day.
  • Private by design — your app choices never leave your iPhone.

A grace-filled speed bump, never a lock-out — turn it off whenever you like. iPhone only, and entirely optional. Uses Apple’s Family Controls, so Heart Soil never sees which apps you choose.

Becoming like Jesus is the goal,
but the noise gets in the way.

You want a deep, resilient faith. You want to be a person of peace who reflects Jesus to the world. But in a culture designed for distraction, true spiritual formation feels like an uphill battle.

Constant Distraction

Your phone buzzes. Your mind wanders. Trying to have quiet time often feels anything but quiet.

Scattered Prayers

Prayer requests get lost in notes apps or forgotten entirely. You feel guilty for not following through on promises to pray.

Shallow Roots

You consume sermons and podcasts, but without deep practices like meditation and silence, your heart remains unchanged.

There is a better way to grow.

Heart Soil gives you a simple, sacred place to practice the habits that shape your soul. No noise. No social feeds. Just the tools you need to tend your heart and walk closely with Jesus.

The True Vine

1“I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer.a 2Every branch in me that doesn’t bear fruit, he takes away. Every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

3You are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.

5I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.b

Any verse in Heart Soil can become an image. A portrait card built for messages and Instagram, or a wallpaper sized for your iPhone Lock Screen — so the passage you sat with this morning is the first thing you see all day.

  • Choose the backdrop first — one of the day’s photographs, or any Heart Soil theme as a soft colour wash, nine of them in dark and light
  • See the finished image before it goes anywhere, and step back to change it
  • Reference, translation and the Heart Soil mark are composed in — nothing to caption yourself
  • The wallpaper is laid out for the Lock Screen: the words sit clear of the clock, the widget row, and the buttons in the corners
  • Send it straight to Messages, Instagram or email — or keep it in Photos

Your spiritual journey is private.

What you share with God stays between you and Him

Encrypted & Private

Your prayers, reflections, and journal entries are protected with encryption in transit and at rest, and your journal and prayer topics are encrypted on your device before they're saved. Your writing stays private to your account — we never read it, sell it, or use it for advertising.

You Control Your Data

Your data belongs to you. Export it anytime, delete it whenever you want. We never sell your information or use it for advertising. Your spiritual growth is sacred.

How it works

When you write a prayer or reflection, your journal entries and prayer topics are encrypted with AES-256 on your device before they're saved, and all your data is protected with encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Because your account can be recovered if you forget your password, Heart Soil isn't "zero-knowledge" encryption—but your writing stays private to you, and we never read it, sell it, or share it.

A Letter from the Maker

About My Heart Soil

I created My Heart Soil as a pastor who is learning, alongside others, what it means to faithfully follow Jesus. This space was shaped through shared conversations, prayer, and practice, and it exists to help you follow Him too.

Over the years, I've walked with people who sincerely want to grow as disciples but often feel stretched, distracted, or unsure how real transformation happens. I've experienced that same tension in my own life. It is easy to focus on doing the right things while overlooking the condition of our hearts.

Jesus often described growth in quiet, ordinary ways. In Mark 4, He speaks of the heart as soil where the Word is received and cultivated. In John 15, He invites His disciples to remain connected to Him so that fruit can grow naturally over time.

To remain connected to Jesus means staying with Him. Like a branch connected to the vine, we do not strain to produce fruit. We stay connected. Life flows from Jesus into us through prayer, Scripture, trust, and obedience. Over time, His life produces fruit that we could never manufacture on our own.

My Heart Soil exists to help followers of Jesus slow down, stay present with Him, and pay attention to what is happening beneath the surface. The practices here are simple and rooted in Scripture, creating space to listen, reflect, and respond to Jesus.

This space is built on trust. Trusting Jesus to do His work in us. We are not after more information, but transformation. Not more seed, but better soil.
